Draft 2026 Schedule C instructions give vehicle loan interest its own line (16b)
-
The IRS's early-release draft of the 2026 Schedule C instructions (dated Oct. 8, 2026, marked not for filing) adds a new line 16b for the business-use share of vehicle loan interest and a new line 16c for other business interest. If you claim vehicle loan interest on Schedule 1-A, you can't claim that same interest on Schedule C. These are draft instructions and can still change before the final version.
