Embed the Reseller Cost Index
You can put the Reseller Cost Index on your site for free with one iframe. It shows what 8 selling platforms take in fees on a $25 sale: from $1.28 on Depop to $5.55 on Amazon (media, you ship), computed from each platform's own US fee page and verified . It's licensed CC BY 4.0: keep the credit link. You never re-paste the code: the figures update after we verify a fee change and the site rebuilds (sources are checked weekly).

- Colors: it follows your reader's light or dark setting. To fix one, end the src address with

What the index shows: fees on a $25 sale
The same 9 rows as the embed, with each fee line. The spread from the cheapest to the most expensive platform is $4.27 on one $25 sale.
| Platform | Fee lines | Fees | % of sale | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Depop | Payment processing (3.3% + $0.45)$1.28 | $1.28 | 5.1% | $23.72 |
| TikTok Shop (most categories) | Referral fee (6% of item + shipping)$1.50 | $1.50 | 6% | $23.50 |
| Mercari | Selling fee (10% of item + shipping)$2.50 | $2.50 | 10% | $22.50 |
| Etsy | Listing fee$0.20 + Transaction fee (6.5% of item + shipping)$1.63 + Payment processing (3% + $0.25)$1.00 | $2.83 | 11.3% | $22.17 |
| Whatnot (standard tier) | Commission (8% of item)$2.00 + Payment processing (2.9% + $0.30)$1.03 | $3.03 | 12.1% | $21.97 |
| eBay (most categories) | Final value fee (Most categories)$3.40 + Per-order fee$0.40 | $3.80 | 15.2% | $21.20 |
| eBay (books, movies, music) | Final value fee (Books & Magazines, Movies & TV, Music (not vinyl records))$3.83 + Per-order fee$0.40 | $4.23 | 16.9% | $20.77 |
| Poshmark | Commission (20%)$5.00 | $5.00 | 20% | $20.00 |
| Amazon (media, you ship) | Referral fee (15% of item + shipping)$3.75 + Closing fee (media)$1.80 | $5.55 | 22.2% | $19.45 |
Each row uses the platform's default for a typical sale: eBay's most-categories rate and its books, movies and music rate; Whatnot's standard tier (lower tiers start at higher four-week sales); Etsy with its $0.20 listing fee; Amazon's media category with its $1.80 closing fee, on the Professional plan (no per-item plan fee; the $39.99 monthly fee isn't spread over sales); TikTok Shop's 6% most-categories rate.
Optional costs are left out: Depop's 12% Boosted Listings fee (tracker entry), Etsy's Offsite Ads, which apply only to sales Etsy credits to an ad, and TikTok Shop's Smart Promotion (tracker entry). Shipping changes most of these totals, because several platforms charge their percentage on the shipping the buyer pays; run your own item in the where-to-sell calculator. For the same platforms at other sale prices and with shipping, see selling app fees compared.
How it updates
The embed has no numbers of its own. It is built from the same fee table as the calculators. Sources are checked weekly; after we verify a fee change, we update that table, the site rebuilds, and every embedded copy shows the new figures on its next page load. The "Rates verified" date in the frame shows when the figures were last checked. You don't need to re-paste anything.
Fee changes are logged on the change tracker with their source and their effect on a $10, $25 and $50 sale. The latest fee changes for the platforms in the index:
- Whatnot Premier Shops lose their 10% commission discount on Nov 1 (effective Nov 1, 2026)
- eBay raises its seller currency conversion charge to 3.25% (effective Oct 14, 2026)
- TikTok Shop: 4% LIVE auction referral fee for new auction sellers until Dec 31 (effective Oct 1, 2026)
- Whatnot moves to volume tiers: commission falls as four-week sales grow (effective Sep 21, 2026)
- eBay raises its penalty fees for sellers who stay Below Standard or keep a high 'not as described' rate (effective Jul 1, 2026)
- Fulfilled by TikTok: heavy single items cheaper, 5-20 lb multi-unit orders up to $3 more (effective May 20, 2026)

- Changes: if you edit or re-compute the figures, say so.
One request that is not a license condition: please keep the "Rates verified" date with any number you quote, because fees change often.

Questions
Does the embed cost anything?
No. It is free to use on any site, including commercial ones, under CC BY 4.0. The only condition is credit, and the embed code already carries it: the "Data: The Reseller Index (resellerindex.com)" line inside the frame and the credit line under it, which links the license. Keep both visible.
How often do the numbers change?
After we verify a fee change and the site rebuilds. Sources are checked weekly. A verified change goes into the same fee table as our calculators, and every embedded copy shows it on its next page load. The "Rates verified" date in the frame shows when the fees were last checked against each platform's own page (now Oct 14, 2026).
Does the embed track my readers?
It sets no cookies and loads no analytics, ads or third-party scripts. It is one HTML page with inline styles; its only script reads the optional theme setting. Like every page on the site, it is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as IP addresses.
Can I change the size or the colors?
The frame is built for 600 by 420 pixels and shrinks to fit narrower columns, switching to short platform names and a shorter note at 560 pixels wide or narrower. If a scrollbar shows inside the frame (most likely in columns narrower than about 300 pixels), raise the height. It follows your reader's light or dark setting; add ?theme=light or ?theme=dark to the end of the src address to fix one.
Can I copy the numbers into my own table instead?
Yes, under the same license: credit The Reseller Index with a link to resellerindex.com, name the license (CC BY 4.0) with a link to it, and say if you changed anything. Please also keep the "Rates verified" date with the numbers; the license doesn't require it, but fees change often. Copied numbers won't update themselves, so the embed is the better choice if you want them to stay current.
