Whatnot will bill sellers for USPS weight adjustments from Nov 4
For US shipments sent on or after November 4, 2026, USPS charges for packages that weigh more than their Whatnot-generated label go to the seller's Whatnot ledger. Until now Whatnot absorbed them. For now Whatnot still covers dimension and hazmat adjustments, and it doesn't pass on UPS adjustments yet. Sellers whose first sale was on or after Sept 5, 2026 aren't part of this rollout, and neither are sellers who use their own labels.
Your net on a $10 / $25 / $50 sale: n/a / n/a / n/a
Not a set fee. You pay USPS's charge only when the packed box weighs more than the label says. To avoid it, weigh the packed box and fix the shipping profile before you buy the label. You have 45 days to appeal a charge, and USPS decides the appeal.

Whatnot Premier Shops lose their 10% commission discount on Nov 1

Starting November 1 that discount goes away, and the rate depends only on the seller's four-week sales tier. Premier Shops keep the badge, the extra visibility in search and priority support. Poshmark stops covering USPS's $50 hazmat fee: sellers pay it all from Oct 19

USPS may raise stamp and Media Mail prices in January 2027, by up to 2.105% on average per class
On July 16, 2026, USPS asked the Postal Regulatory Commission to let it count estimated fiscal 2026 density rate authority so it could move its yearly mailing price increase to January 2027. The PRC denied the request on Aug. 21, 2026 (Order No. 9696) but said USPS may still file in October 2026 for a January 2027 increase. USPS adds a $50 fee for undeclared hazmat, and old labels on reused boxes trigger it
Since July 12, 2026, USPS charges a $50 HAZMAT Noncompliance Fee on commercial-price competitive packages (Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, Ground Advantage, Parcel Select and others) when it detects hazardous materials that weren't declared and labeled. Resellers most often get hit for reusing a box that still shows old hazmat markings. Notice 123 doesn't list the fee for Media Mail or for retail counter prices.

A penalty, not a per-sale fee: $50 for each flagged commercial-label package. Mercari pays $25 of it (since Sept 1), and Poshmark pays none from Oct 19. eBay's Seller Center says you're charged the full $50.

USPS now requires box dimensions with every commercial parcel label
Since July 12, 2026, the shipping data a label service sends USPS for commercial Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, Ground Advantage and Parcel Select must include each parcel's accurate length, width and height. Flat Rate and USPS Returns pieces are exempt. USPS put off charging for missing or wrong dimensions until a second phase, tentatively early 2027; until then, the $3.00 Dimension Noncompliance Fee for missing or wrong dimensions still applies only to parcels over 1 cubic foot or 22 in. long.

A rule with no new fee yet for most parcels. Once phase two starts, a missing or wrong dimension could cost $3.00 per parcel (Notice 123). Enter real box sizes when you buy labels.

eBay raises its penalty fees for sellers who stay Below Standard or keep a high 'not as described' rate
Since July 1, 2026, a US seller rated Below Standard for four or more months in a row pays an extra 7% of the sale total in final value fees. Before the fourth month the extra is 6%. A Very High 'item not as described' rate for four or more months in a row raises that category's extra fee from 5% to 6%. The higher rate lasts until your rating improves.
Your net on a $10 / $25 / $50 sale: -$0.10 / -$0.25 / -$0.50
Only for sellers Below Standard four or more months in a row: 1 more point of the sale total, shown on item price alone (no shipping or tax). A Very High 'not as described' rate for four or more months costs the same 1 point in that category. Everyone else: no change.

IRS raises the 2026 business mileage rate to 76 cents from July 1
Citing higher fuel prices, the IRS raised the business standard mileage rate to 76 cents a mile for driving on or after July 1, 2026 (Announcement 2026-11, in the July 13, 2026 Internal Revenue Bulletin). Miles driven before July 1 stay at 72.5 cents, so a 2026 mileage log needs the two halves totaled separately. Medical and military moving miles rose to 23.5 cents, and charity miles stay at 14 cents. General information, not tax advice: check with a tax pro.

Amazon FBM: handling times must match how fast you actually ship
From June 29, 2026, each seller-fulfilled SKU's handling time must match how fast you actually ship it. Amazon recommends turning on Automated Handling Time, which comes with late-shipment-rate protection. If a SKU you set by hand is consistently shipped at least one day faster than stated (Amazon monitors over 30 days), it gets flagged and you have 30 days to fix it, or Amazon manages that SKU's handling time itself. Custom, handmade and heavy-and-bulky less-than-truckload shipments are exempt.

A rule, not a fee. A padded handling time on a fast-shipping SKU gets flagged and can be overridden by Amazon.

New $400 minimum QBI deduction for sellers with at least $1,000 of business income
For tax years beginning after Dec. 31, 2025, the 20% qualified business income (QBI) deduction has a floor. If your QBI from businesses you materially participate in is at least $1,000, the deduction is at least $400. That matters when the regular 20% calculation comes to less than $400, for example with $1,000 to $1,999 of QBI, and both figures are indexed for inflation after 2026.
