Mercari sales report for taxes: how to get it and what it shows

Mercari's Gross Sales Report is on Mercari.com under Account > Seller Dashboard > Sales Report, according to Mercari's help pages How to use the Tax Center and Helpful Income Tax Information for Sellers (checked ); for a whole year, its 1099-K FAQ points to Yearly Reports on the same page. You set the date or date range, and the report covers completed, in-progress and canceled orders. It has separate columns for the item price, buyer-paid shipping, Mercari's selling and payment processing fees, the shipping you paid, label adjustments, your net proceeds and the sales tax Mercari collected. Mercari's help pages don't name the file format. What it can't show is what you paid for the items: Mercari says "we do not have the original cost of your sold items," so "net" here means net of Mercari's charges and shipping, not your taxable profit.

How to get it

Mercari doesn't publish a numbered list of steps. These are put together from its help pages, with its menu labels in bold.

  1. Log in on Mercari.com, where Mercari's help pages place the report.
  2. Go to Account > Seller Dashboard > Sales Report.
  3. Set the date or date range you want to review.
  4. For a whole calendar year, open Yearly Reports, which Mercari says shows the breakdown of item price, buyer-paid shipping and sales tax.

Mercari says that at the end of each year "you can also download your gross sales report for the relevant year" for your tax records (Helpful Income Tax Information for Sellers). Its pages don't name the download button or the file type, so check the report page in your account for the export option.

What's in the report

Mercari lists every column on How to access my Gross Sales Report. Mercari's fees only apply to completed orders; for orders still in progress, the report shows estimated costs.

Does Mercari send a 1099-K?

Yes, above a threshold. Mercari's 1099-K related FAQs say that from the 2025 tax year it is required to file a Form 1099-K with the IRS and state taxing authorities when you have more than $20,000 in gross payments and more than 200 transactions in a calendar year. It gives you a copy by January 31 of the following year: on paper, postmarked by January 31, or in your account. The FAQ also says: "If you do not meet both criteria, a 1099-K will not be issued."

  • What the form counts: item price, buyer-paid shipping and buyer-paid sales tax, for completed orders only. Buyer-paid service and payment processing fees, refunds and canceled orders are left out. Mercari's How to use the Tax Center page also lists buyer-paid merchant fees in gross sales. Mercari adds: "Seller-paid shipping and Mercari Seller fees are reported as part of the gross item price." Its policy page says the total does not include any adjustments for credits, cash equivalents, discount amounts, fees, refunded amounts, or any other amounts after completion (Mercari).
  • Getting it: in the Tax Center (Account Settings > Tax Center on Mercari.com), by January 31 for the year before. Electronic forms are PDFs. You choose electronic or mail delivery in the Tax Center when you submit your W-9; Mercari says W-9 updates for the prior year must be in by January 7.
  • States: Mercari's policy page says "Some states have their own tax reporting thresholds." When you meet the federal threshold, Mercari also files copies with states that require them, and it suggests asking a tax advisor about your state's threshold.

The federal rule: the IRS says a payment app or online marketplace must send a 1099-K when your payments for goods or services total over $20,000 in more than 200 transactions, and that it "may send you a Form 1099-K with lower amounts and/or transactions" (IRS: Understanding your Form 1099-K, reviewed ). The form doesn't decide what counts as income: "Whether or not you receive a Form 1099-K, you must still report any income on your tax return." More on the rule: 1099-K for resellers.

Turn the report into numbers

In a spreadsheet, filter Order Status to Completed (Mercari's fees only apply to completed orders), then total these columns. All of the column names are Mercari's own.

Which columns of Mercari's Gross Sales Report to total, using the column list on Mercari's help page (checked Oct 14, 2026). The totals are records, not a tax calculation.
You wantWhat to total
Gross salesItem Price, plus Buyer Shipping Fee for shipping buyers paid. Mercari's 1099-K also adds Sales Tax Charged to Buyer, and its Tax Center page lists buyer-paid merchant fees (the Merchant Fees Charged to Buyer column) in gross sales too.
Mercari's feesMercari Selling Fee plus Payment Processing Fee.
Shipping you paidSeller Shipping Fee plus Shipping Adjustment Fee (underweight labels). Mercari's report page doesn't say which column shows other charges taken from earnings, such as the seller's $25 share of USPS's $50 hazmat fee on packages postmarked from Sep 1, 2026 (Mercari; see the Mercari change log).
What reached your balanceNet Seller Proceeds.
Refunds and cancellationsFilter Order Status to Canceled and look at Canceled Date. Mercari's column list has no separate column for a refund after an order completes.
Sales taxSales Tax Charged to Buyer: paid by buyers and remitted by Mercari.
Buyer-paid feesThe Charged to Buyer fee columns. Buyers pay these. Mercari's 1099-K FAQ leaves out buyer-paid service and payment processing fees; its Tax Center page counts buyer-paid merchant fees in gross sales.
Cost of goodsNever in the report. That comes from your own purchase records.

Keep the report, your 1099-K if you get one, and your own records of what you paid for inventory and supplies together. Mercari says it can't advise sellers how to report their sales and recommends a tax advisor; which numbers go on which form is a question for a tax professional. The IRS's recordkeeping page covers what records a small business keeps.

Common questions

Where is the Mercari sales report?

Log in on Mercari.com and go to Account > Seller Dashboard > Sales Report. For a full calendar year, Mercari's 1099-K FAQ points to Seller Dashboard > Sales Report > Yearly Reports. Those are the paths on Mercari's help pages, checked Oct 14, 2026.

Does the Mercari sales report include fees and shipping?

Yes. Mercari lists separate columns for the Mercari Selling Fee, Payment Processing Fee, Seller Shipping Fee, Shipping Adjustment Fee and Net Seller Proceeds, plus Buyer Shipping Fee for shipping the buyer paid.

Does the report show my profit?

Not profit after what you paid for the items. Mercari's page says the report helps you track your "total profit," but it also says "we do not have the original cost of your sold items." So Net Seller Proceeds is what's left after Mercari's charges and the shipping you paid. Your own purchase records cover the cost side.

Will Mercari send me a 1099-K?

Mercari's FAQ says it files a 1099-K when you have more than $20,000 in gross payments and more than 200 transactions in a calendar year (from the 2025 tax year), and gives you a copy by January 31 of the following year. It also says: "If you do not meet both criteria, a 1099-K will not be issued." Mercari's policy page notes that some states have their own thresholds, and the IRS says all income is reportable whether or not a form arrives.

Where do I find my Mercari 1099-K?

In the Tax Center: Account Settings > Tax Center on Mercari.com. Mercari says the form is available there by January 31 for the year before, as a PDF if you chose electronic delivery, or by mail postmarked by January 31.

Why doesn't my sales report total match my 1099-K?

They count different things. Mercari's 1099-K adds item price, buyer-paid shipping and buyer-paid sales tax for completed orders, with your fees and seller-paid shipping still inside the item price, and its policy says the total does not include any adjustments for credits, cash equivalents, discount amounts, fees, refunded amounts, or any other amounts after completion. The report also shows in-progress and canceled orders and takes fees and shipping out in separate columns.
