Can I ship Media Mail in a Priority Mail box?
USPS's rules: No
No. USPS-produced packaging, Priority Mail and Flat Rate boxes included, may be used only for the product it's made for, and USPS charges that product's price however the box is reconfigured or its markings covered. So a book in a Priority Mail box pays Priority Mail prices, not Media Mail's $4.39 for 1 lb; ship Media Mail in your own box or mailer.

What it costs to ship
Media Mail costs the same to every US address, with a 1 lb minimum ($4.39) and any fraction of a pound rounded up. Ground Advantage, USPS's ground package service with tracking included, is priced by weight and zone: online is USPS's commercial price for labels bought online, and the counter price is retail.

- Reusing a box: USPS says to cover or black out all old logos, barcodes, shipping labels and addresses (USPS).

- Keep free Priority Mail boxes for Priority Mail.
- Use plain boxes or mailers for Media Mail.
